Everything Has Changed; Nothing is Different

"And there, there’s the spot where I left my virginity in Severin’s van, on that bitter cold December night. There’s the spot where, in a different van, on a December night two years later, Hugh and I admitted we like-liked each other, though we knew we could never act on it. There’s the spot where I got high for the first time. There’s the spot where I made out with a supposedly straight girl and she made me swear never to tell anyone, because she didn’t want anyone thinking she was a dyke. There’s the spot where a different straight girl and I made out, and I told her I was in love with her, and she told me she couldn’t handle it. There’s the alley where Timmy showed me the cuts on his arms and said: “I knew I could talk to you about it, ‘cause I know you do it, too,” and I said: “You can talk to me about anything. But don’t be like me, dude. I’m a fuck-up.”"

One Beer Prophet Wisconsin

One Beer Prophet is a smoky-voiced siren from the trainyards of the Rust Belt. She is skinned knees and dirt under your nails, the night you fell in love and the morning your heart was broken, 3am and another bottle of wine - or beer. ... more
